The project has been instituted in order to compile over time a complete corpus of the historical material relating to the medieval Cistercian abbey of St Mary de Voto at Tintern in County Wexford, Ireland.

The project consists of three complementary and concurrent phases:

1. the collation of an archive of references in original records and primary literature relating to the abbey,
2. annotation of the archive to throw light on the context and significance of the entries in it, and
3. the preparation by the author of a thesis, The Historic Landscape of the Cistercian Abbey of St Mary de Voto, Tintern, County Wexford, which builds on his earlier dissertation, The Origins and Foundation Charter of St Mary de Voto, Tintern, County Wexford, 1189-1211.
